Labiaplasty

When you submit this form, we will respond with information about our services and how we can be of assistance.

WHAT IS LABIAPLASTY?

Labiaplasty is the surgical enhancement of the appearance of the labia majora (outer lips) or labia minora (inner lips) of the external genitalia. The procedures include labia minora reduction, labia majora augmentation (using fillers), lifting, clitoral hood reduction among other procedures.

Why would a woman require a labiaplasty?

There are many reasons why women may want a labiaplasty, both medical and aesthetic. This can include:
  • Enlargement:  the labia can enlarge and protrude, causing discomfort and pain that leads to irritation and sometimes, in more serious cases, infection.
  • Inability to exercise without discomfort: enlarged labia can interfere with an active lifestyle.
  • Difficulties wearing tight-fitting clothing: protruding labia can cause discomfort for women wearing swimming costumes, gym gear, cycling shorts, and even tight jeans.
  • Sexual: enlarged labia can sometimes cause painful intercourse, embarrassment, loss of self-esteem and can prevent sexual intimacy.
  • Psychological impact: if the appearance and size of the labia are problematic, it has a negative impact on a woman’s self-confidence, sex life and lifestyle.

What are the types of labiaplasty?

LABIAPLASTY MINORA

Labia minora are the inner lips of the external female genitalia. Hypertrophy (enlargement) or uneven size of the labia is a variant of normal genital structure. However, for some women, this could be exaggerated, with enlarged labia causing discomfort, painful sexual intercourse, and inability to wear certain types of garments, embarrassment and lack of sexual confidence.
At Gynaecare cosmetic gynaecology clinic, our expert, accredited cosmetic gynaecologist provides a discrete, professional service for reassurance and where necessary, the required cosmetic surgery for your desired result.

LABIAPLASTY MAJORA

Labia Majora are the external lips of the external female genitalia. These may in some cases appear too large, or saggy, especially after childbirth, weight loss or as part of the normal ageing process. Labiaplasty majora reduces the size and enhances the appearance of labia majora, by removing the excess fat, then tightening the relaxed excess skin.

LABIAPLASTY MAJORA AUGMENTATION

Labia Majora augmentation increase the size and appearance of the labia Majora if small. The enhanced labial appearance improves personal and sexual confidence for many women. Augmentation is performed by either of 2 methods: 1. Augmentation using natural body fat. The patient’s body fat is sourced from another part of the body by liposuction, then processed for injection into the labia majora (this has a longer lasting result). 2. High density hyaluronic acid injection into the labia majora. This produces the same desired results. As the hyaluronic acid material is lost over time, it is not as long lasting as the natural body fat. However, it is a simpler, quicker and cheaper procedure.

PSYCHOLOGICAL AND EMOTIONAL SUPPORT IN COSMETIC GYNAECOLOGY

At Gynaecare cosmetic gynaecology clinic, we work closely with an experienced psychologist, who has a special interest in cosmetic gynaecology. In some cases, a referral to psychologists may be recommended in order to address potential psychological problems that may arise from the external genital appearance, or which may cause the dissatisfaction with the appearance in the first place, ensuring that surgery is only performed where necessary.

How is the Surgery Performed?

At Gynaecare cosmetic gynaecology clinic, we utilise the latest, fine cutting pencil for the skin incisions. At a detailed consultation with you, we will discuss and agree on the desired cosmetic result. Careful skin marking is used during surgery to ensure uniform results. Very fine absorbable sutures are used. These will be invisible to you after surgery and dissolve within a short time, leaving no scars.

How long does the procedure take?

The procedure takes 1-2 hours. It is a day surgery procedure under anaesthesia with very quick recovery.

How much does it cost?

The overall cost of treatment depends on each individual case, but the fee is always fully explained and detailed in advance of any treatment. We can also offer a payment plan, should you need one.
